“Something Witchy is delicious!” Ashley, WYS

☆☆☆☆☆ I love Something Witchy This Way Comes, and I definitely recommend it! 5 out of 5 stars!

Characters.

Most of the characters in Something Witchy This Way Comes really surprised me. They were really interesting and just when I thought I had them figured out, they did something to change my opinion. Most notably Hayden, who for a majority of the novel is portrayed as this bad boy heart throb super player that is just a “Wham, bam, thank you ma’am”kind of guy. But when he’s given the task of protecting Tessa, the main character, he really steps up and after a while we see a much sweeter side of him. And while he never actually stops being that bad boy that we all know and love, something does change in him. Tessa was a great character, strong and level-headed. I was just annoyed when she wouldn’t give Hayden a chance! I mean, sure he doesn’t have the best reputation, but everyone deserves a chance! Especially someone as sexy as him!

Steaminess.

Holy askoiqweorjadoiflakdgoiuwelrkjag. QOEIURLKASDLFMKHLFJDF. This book is delicious! Not in a hugely sexual way, but there was this wonderful tension between Tessa and Hayden for the longest time!

The witches.

These weren’t your average witches. They had some pretty cool powers, especially Tessa. But, the guy witches were super hardcore! It was awesome to read a story where there wasn’t just awesome girl witches, but some pretty cool magical guys too.

“Couldn’t put Something Witchy down” – Minding Spot

Thanks so much for taking the time to put your thoughts down about Something Witchy This Way Comes, Minding Spot!

“I really couldn’t put this down. It ended far too quickly for me. There was some great plot twists tossed in that surprised me. It took me awhile to figure out who I was supposed to be rooting for. Just remember, sometimes the bad guys are good and vice versa.

“If you’re looking for an entertaining, engrossing tale, Blade is the one to pick up. From teen to adult, I can’t imagine anyone not absolutely adoring this book.”

Pacific Book Review on Something Witchy

“We have come to learn about witches from TV, the movies, and of course in literature. Some wiggle their nose and make things change like in Bewitched, others cross their arms and blink their eyes like our favorite genie, while still others wear rounded glasses and attend English manor schooling. Veronica Blade has created her own brand of witches, indelible to the reader’s memory, right from the hallways of a high school in her fanciful novel, Something Witchy This Way Comes.

“Guidance and direction, along with comradery and protection all become necessities for Tessa as she realizes just how “special” she is. Infatuated with a bad-ass young man Hayden, the two orbit around each another, forming a symbiotic relationship of survival entwined with acute sexual attraction in such a way the layers of their character development becomes the story and that will keep you glued to the book. This entire novel is written without any use of vulgar language or obscene behavior, a feather in the writing cap of Veronica Blade as she achieves a wholesome and adventurous read for her young adult audiences.

“I firmly feel Veronica Blade truly enjoys writing, as she demonstrates an acumen of knowledge understanding the mindset of young adults so well. Mixed into the witches brew a hodgepodge of supernatural powers, high school peer pressures, and the muse of sex emanates an unforgettable cast of characters and incidents. A delightful read, Something Witchy This Way Comes is an ideal gift for a teenager – something to show them witches don’t have to fly on broomsticks; instead they can drive an $80,000 car.”

“An exciting, action-filled read” says BookReviews.org

“The compelling elements of this book are the author’s ability to entertain while also examining the issues that young adults are faced with every day: family problems, bullying, intimate relationships, and their future adult lives. Both Tessa and Hayden cope with heavy family issues of neglect and abuse and find themselves in the position of having to make very grown-up decisions with little or no adult guidance. By allowing the reader access to Tessa and Hayden’s inner thoughts, Blade encourages a connection between the reader and the lead characters that makes the story even more interesting and adds substance to the plot.

“Something Witchy This Way Comes is an exciting, action-filled read with smart, complicated characters. The book offers readers a balance of the supernatural and real-life hardships that a young adult audience will find familiar. The author’s skill at storytelling will make this book a draw for more seasoned adults as well. I highly recommended it.”

“A promising debut” says Agrippina Legit

“I have a feeling that Hayden is going to end up with a lot of fans, and if you’re the type of person who tends to fall for the bad boys with hearts of gold, you should probably brace yourself for a new literary crush before picking up Something Witchy This Way Comes!”

“Something Witchy This Way Comes was a light and enjoyable read, which ably held my attention from start to finish. While I personally found myself wishing for a little more action and a little less romance, other readers will undoubtedly think the opposite. A promising debut from Veronica Blade.”

Mad Moose Mama: “I thoroughly loved [Something Witchy]”

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ½
4.5 out of 5 Stars

“I thought the relationship between the two was a wonderful, emotional tug of war. The whole push me, pull me pace was enjoyable to read and just when you are about to get sick of the whole ordeal, the author turns up the heat and gives the reader more delight to feast upon.

“The dialogue and emotions are real and raw, there are some expletives and sexual fantasy scenes but I felt they worked with the characters and gave them more of an edge to their creation. Oftentimes the author used comedic wit to the scenes giving it an even more humanistic appeal to the characters.

“There were a few aspects that were predictable, however, there are more than enough twists and turns to keep everyone guessing. I thought the ending was perfect in its completion and I believe the author tied up most of the loose ends nicely.”
